The summer term at Tzohar will feature a new project aimed at gaining proficiency in understanding some of the timeless teachings of the sages of the Mishna. The students will learn and review the Ethics set down in the famous tractate, Pirke Avot.
Pirke Avot contains instructions and advice for living as an ethical person.
The project will function on several levels.
In the lower grades the students will orally review the Mishnayos while listening to a recording of the relevant Mishna, which also will be played at selected intervals during school hours.
In the upper grades the students will have a variety of methods for reviewing the Mishnayos. They will be expected to take every opportunity at school and at home to learn and to review the Mishnayos by heart.
Every day, older students, from the Yeshiva Class, will test the younger students on their knowledge. For every Mishna that a child knows by heart, he will receive – in addition to the huge "prize" of knowing another Mishna by heart–a Treasure Card.
At the end of each week, the "Treasure Room" will be opened and students will be invited to choose a gift according to the number of Treasure Cards they hold.
