The faculty, staff and students send their congratulations and best wishes for continued success to Efrat Shenhod, the first prize winner in a competition for entrepreneurs aged 45 and above.
The YNET website reported:
Efrat Shenhod, 50, an occupational therapist for the past 23 years, started on a new path in life about two years ago. She's invented a "smart chair" for use by people with physical limitations.
The chair, named "The Magician", makes it possible for the user to change his or her seating position in a way that generates motorial movement. Generally, people who use wheel chairs for mobility spend the entire day in the same sitting position.
The Entrepreneurs 45+ competition, sponsored by Merage Foundations Israel, is in its third year.
The final round of the competition took place in Tel Aviv and was open to the public at large. Nine out of the 200 original competitors reached the finals.
The winner receives $100,000 in order to finance a business model for producing and marketing the winning entry, and meets with billionaire philanthropist Paul Merage, initiator of the competition. The winner also receives a trip to California for a series of meetings with top executives in the hi-tech industry.
