Lev Tov Talmud Torah recently held an assembly for the benefit of students who have decided to join the school's Personal Responsibility Project.

The many students who have been participating in the project for some time perform various tasks, every day at the same hour, with a feeling of responsibility, obligation and belonging.

At the assembly, students new to the venture learned about the values informing the project, youngsters who are already involved in the enterprise refreshed their knowledge, and the two groups got to know each other.

The youngsters excitedly gathered for the assembly, where they sat around a table and listened to instructions from the project director.

Each participant received a notebook in which to keep track of his or her duties. Every day, after taking care of his or her chore, the participating student will write the details in his or her Personal Responsibility notebook.

The principal addressed the students, offering words of encouragement. She explained the importance of fulfilling one's duty, of taking responsibility for a task, the significance of giving and the value of tending to one's task on time and with perseverance.

Members of staff assigned tasks to the students in an enjoyable way, by playing a game of "Pass the Package." Staffers reported that after the students identified their tasks -by means of the photographs they had received in their packages- they happily shared their "news" with the other participants in the program.

And, of course, each package contained some small surprises to make learning the serious subject of responsibility even more fun.
